The Kind of Work that Makes Me Happy
Please enjoy some of the amazing work that my students have created!
Part of our black history month studies included Coretta Scott King. Learning about her lead us to the website dosomething.org where we picked a cause and made mirror messages for teachers and students throughout the school to help brighten their days or build up their self esteem. Along side this we covered our hallway with pictures of us taking a stand for justice and committing to something we can do to promote peace, kindness, and justice.
Above is a Mansa Musa project completed for black history month. This project, while missing information, and not completely polished, was completed by a third grader over two days on Imovie. This was the first time he had ever used or even played around with the program.
Students, who have prepared for both sides of a debate, were assigned a stance and are debating a topic based on United State history and geography.

THE COLORS OF US! - Pictures and paint swatches that demonstrate the diversity in our classroom. We hung this outside of our door as a classroom glad that represents us as individuals and as a community.
On the 100th day of school we used an aging app called Aging Booth. We made ourselves look old and wrote about what we would be like (or want to be like) when we're 100 yeas old.
Students created their own newspaper articles/editions about what they think happened to Amelia Earhart after studying her flights. They combined historical truths with mysteries in history and created a fictional story.
Students are drawing a map or a picture on a clementine, which represents the Earth. After students finish, they peel their "map" and do the best to flatten it out, showing the difficulties (and impossibilities) cartographers have to deal with while trying to create a flat map from a spherical shape.
A third grade student decided to create an imovie as his format for his animal project.
