About Me - Mrs. VHey everyone!
I'm Kayla VanEgmond! I am a (4th generation) graduate of Michigan State University. After graduation, I spent a year interning in Chicago Public School District in a south-side elementary school while my husband taught high school social studies. A year later we moved to Washington, D.C. area where I taught 6th grade reading and social studies in Prince George's County, MD for two years before moving back to Michigan. I am now a 3rd grade teacher in Ypsilanti, MI and loving my job! A few little random things about me: I love peanut butter on my pancakes and Mexican food. I have a shih tzu/puggle puppy named Chewy (short for Chewbacca) and a kitty named Princess Rosalina (Rosa). I play the violin. I love the color orange. Traveling is by biggest passion. I’m from Davisburg, MI and grew up on a lake, so I love to be outdoors - playing sports or waterskiing. I also love reading, playing games, and watching jeopardy with my husband, Andy. I am certified K-5 all subjects, 6-8 TESOL, and K-8 English, with an MSU specialization in urban education. In May I will have my Master of Arts in Education focused on P-12 School and Postsecondary Leadership. |
